Writing testimonials is trivially easy and almost impossible to disprove. A contractor website can carry a dozen warm paragraphs attributed to initials and a first name, and nobody can check a single one. That is precisely why they are worth so little, and why we are not going to add any.
Star ratings and review counts are the same problem wearing a number. A figure with no verifiable source behind it is decoration, and a rating that cannot be traced to a platform where customers actually wrote something is not evidence of anything.
There is also a technical version of this. Search engines can display star ratings in results when a website marks reviews up in structured data, and it is straightforward to put ratings into that markup that no real customer ever gave. This site emits no review markup at all, and our build process refuses to publish if any ever appears in it. That is enforced automatically rather than left to good intentions.
The trade-off is obvious: a page with nothing on it is less persuasive than a page full of praise. We would rather you weighed the rest of the site — how the work is described, what we say the limits are, where we tell you to spend less — and drew your own conclusion.
How to check us out in the meantime
Ask us for references directly. If we have done work near you, asking a previous customer in your own community is worth more than any paragraph on a website, and it is a request we should be able to meet.
Ask for proof of insurance and see whether the document appears promptly. Ask what the quote excludes, and see whether the answer is specific. Ask what could go wrong on your particular job — anyone who says nothing has not looked at it properly.
Then compare quotes by scope rather than by total. Two numbers tell you nothing on their own, because the lower one may have fewer coats, less preparation or one fewer surface inside it. This is the single most useful thing a homeowner can do, and it works regardless of who you end up hiring.
